Yoga is the quieting of the mind, connecting with a deeper and more embodied place of knowing. Through the practice of yoga one can learn to join body, mind and spirit into a unified state of presence, arriving fully here and now.

Working with the breath during yoga practice is essential in helping open the way to a powerful experience of presence and aliveness. I always include breathwork in my classes.

Yoga asks each of us to inquire deeply into what being in balance means for us, as we learn to find both strength and softening in each pose while simultaneously noticing and connecting with emotions, thoughts and sensations that may arise during asana.

Over time we can discover and map our own body: learning where we tend to hold stress, where we are strong or need strengthening, where we need to stretch and grow, and where we are at ease naturally.

My hope is that each person who comes to yoga practice will find that this sense of deep inner knowing creates and supports balance in all areas of their life. I am a lifetime student of yoga and certainly include myself in this hope.

I teach vinyasa flow, slow flow, restorative, and chair yoga.

Vinyasa flow is a very active practice that aims to match movement to breath. Vinyasa includes sun salutations, standing poses, and core work. In this type of yoga there is less time holding each pose and more dynamic movement within each pose.

Hatha and slow flow are similar to vinyasa but slower paced. In these practices there are longer holds in each pose and more time spent doing breathwork and deeper stretching.

Restorative yoga is about rest, relaxation and calming the nervous system. It involves poses on the floor that are deeply supported by the use of multiple props. The time spent in each pose is much longer, such as 5 minutes or more, which provides an opportunity to fully relax and release deeply into each pose.

Chair yoga is exactly as it sounds, a form of yoga done sitting in a chair. This is a great option for those with balance issues, limited mobility, or working with injuries. Chair yoga is also great for anyone looking for variety in their practice.
